Name three guests (dead or alive) that you would invite to a dinner party and why?

Chuck Yeager – flew the X1 above the Mojave desert, California in 1947 and broke the sound barrier for the first time ever. Malcolm Gladwell – who wrote Tipping Point, Blink, Outliers, and more, to reveal how and why we think and behave differently, and Helen Mirren – she’s got a wicked sense of humour and I bet she can tell some great stories about the world of film.

How long have you been in the travel industry for?

For years. In fact, I feel like I’m a marketing person trapped in travel, rather than a travel person trapped in marketing. But it’s a happy working-life sentence!

What are your pet hates?

People who say strategize instead of think, socialize instead of discuss, and triage instead of fix.

What TV series have you recently watched and what would you rate it out of 10?

Ted Lasso (Season 2) – 9/10

American home-spun optimism v. English premier league football stereotypes. It’s a hoot but sometimes a bit too sentimental.

If you had three wishes what would you wish for?

Abolish greed. Abolish hate. A biodegradable alternative to plastics.

What is your favourite meal?

Fried calamari, fillet steak, & home-made baked cheesecake. Not all on the same plate, though.

Window, middle or aisle-seat?

Window. But Middle when travelling with my wife. Think about it…

Mountain or beach?

Beach at the foot of a mountain. Google Na Pali coast, Kauai in Hawaii.

Is a Jaffa cake a cake or a biscuit?

Way too soft to be a biscuit. Besides, the clue is in the name.

If you were stuck on a desert island name the one item you would take with you?

An American football. I’d draw a face on it and call it Wilson!

Do you have a party trick? If so what is it?

Bizarrely, sing like Donald Duck and Louis Armstrong. But obviously not at the same time coz  that would be weird.

If you won the lottery what would be the first thing you would do?

Buy a home on a mountainside that cascades all the way down to a beach.

If you weren’t working in travel, what would you like to be doing?

Having a talent that I was so good at I could earn a living even though I enjoyed it so much that I’d do it for free!

What is your favourite place to travel to and why?

Home. I’ve been to some fantastic places around the world, and had great experiences that challenge the way you see things, but you can’t beat coming home.
